The CBSA launches investigations into upholstered seating from Vietnam and China

According to the Foreign Trade Defense Handling Division, the Trade Defense Department, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, on December 21, 2020, the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) has officially initiated an anti-dumping investigation, anti-subsidy for upholstered seats from Vietnam and China.


Investigated goods are upholstered chairs used in daily life with HS code 9401.40; 9401.61 and 9401.71.


CBSA will conduct a preliminary investigation and intend to sell the Preliminary Conclusion within 90 days of the issuance of the Inception Notice. Currently, CBSA has issued a questionnaire and requested the Government of Vietnam as well as businesses to answer the questionnaire and send it to CBSA by January 27, 2021 by email.


Enterprises need to answer fully and accurately the questionnaire contents; ensure compliance and consistency with the corporate governance system when CBSA conducts an on-site investigation at the factory/offices. In case of need, request CBSA to extend the deadline for submitting Questionnaires.


The Ministry of Industry and Trade will work closely with related ministries, branches, associations and businesses to handle the case together with the aim of ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of enterprises.
