The Ministry of Industry and Trade is proposing to develop a decree regulating how to identify Vietnamese products or goods or are made in Vietnam.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade said that, through a review, the Ministry found that there are no legal documents specifying specific criteria and conditions for enterprises to identify and display on the goods and their packaging as products of Vietnam” or “Made in Vietnam”.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the need to show the origin and origin of goods according to new international practices is very urgent in the current period. The formation of supply chains in the context of globalization, in which there may be many countries participating in the production of a product, has been making changes in the origin and origin of goods. Besides the traditional inscriptions like “Product of ...”, ‘Made in…”, there are other ways of writing to show more accurately the origin of the product such as “assembled in (country, region)” or “Made by (company name, corporation name)”, ect,…

Therefore, the promulgation of the Decree “Made in Vietnam” will help to resolve this situation. Stemming from the above reality, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister to allow the Ministry of Industry and Trade to preside over the elaboration of a Draft Decree “Made in Vietnam”.

  1. Criteria to define a certain good are “Vietnamese products” or “Made in Vietnam”.
  2. The method of presenting the contents of Vietnamese products or made in Vietnam on the goods or goods packages (depending on the production, processing or processing, organizations and individuals may choose one of several phrases to indicate that the goods are Vietnamese goods or made in Vietnam). In case of uncertainty about Vietnam's origin, individuals, organizations or organizations may indicate the origin of goods in a different way on the labels of goods;
  3. Rules for managing the presentation of Vietnamese products or goods or made in Vietnam on the goods, goods packages, and relevant commercial documents, etc,… (on the principle of voluntary and self-responsibility);
  4. Measures against fraud in the presentation of Vietnamese products or goods or manufactured in Vietnam.
